The St. Francis of Assisi Ministry of Music offers a rich tradition of excellence in liturgical music that enhances the worship experience for those who enter our historic church. A typical program of choral music may be downloaded here.
St. Francis of Assisi Schola Cantorum
Our Calling:
We are God’s children—People from all walks of life who serve God as ministers in music, who enjoy singing music of a traditional nature. The service of this choir is not to be taken lightly, but rather with commitment and dedication. We are a royal priesthood, gathered not only to sing, but also to grow in faith and love toward God and one another.
Our Purpose:
To glorify God with all that we are;
To minister to all that Christ be glorified in all our lives;
To be supportive in our common liturgical experience;
To open the minds of our fellow parishioners to music expressions of greater vision and depth
Our Rehearsal:
Tuesday evenings, 6:30 – 8:00 in the church. We rehearse from the first Tuesday in September that follows Labor Day through the Solemnity of Corpus Christi.
Our Service:
The Schola Cantorum is in residence for every 11:30 a.m. Choral Eucharist during the year from September through the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. The choir presents other liturgical services such as a Festival Lessons & Carols during Advent and a Tenebræ Service during Lent—both calling to mind critical aspects of the life of Christ as we prepare for Christmas and The Paschal Triduum / Easter respectively.
Our Fellowship:
The Ministry of Music enjoys social gatherings and parties throughout the year where our members can come together and share fellowship activities.
