Holy Thursday – April 9 - Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 pm. We suggest that you make a spiritual communion as you view the live stream of the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. St. Thomas Aquinas once defined a Spiritual Communion as “an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament [in Communion at Mass] and in lovingly embracing Him as if we had actually received Him.” You may want to use this prayer composed by St. Alphonsus Liguori in the 19
th century:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.
