On March 3, 2016, Saint Francis of Assisi Parish established a Haiti Outreach Ministry. The mission of the ministry is: To prayerfully plan and promote solidarity and assistance to our sister Parish, St. François Xavier in Giles, Haiti.
The initial project was to assist the rebuilding of St. François Xavier Chapel in Gilles, Miragoâne, Haiti. The community had been worshiping under a tarp since the original chapel was destroyed in the 2010 earthquake. A group of parishioners traveled to Haiti in November 2017, for the dedication of the new chapel. Since that time, the chapel has become the seat of a new St. François Xavier Parish.
Following completion of the chapel, the Haiti Outreach Ministry has funded various assistance to St. François Xavier Parish, including the addition of a rectory, a goat program, earthquake relief and food assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Haiti Outreach Ministry is funded by dedicated donations from the parishioners and friends of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish.
The parishioners of St. François Xavier Parish, who are living on the margins, are prayerfully grateful for all our help. Please contact the parish office should you be inspired to help the Haiti Outreach Ministry assist in our partnership with St. François Xavier Parish, Haiti.
