“Quite early on, the name catechesis was given to the totality of the Church’s efforts to make disciples, to help men believe that Jesus is the Son of God so that believing they might have life in his name, and to educate and instruct them in this life, thus buildings up the body of Christ.” (CCC, 4)
The St. Francis of Assisi Parish School of Religion (CCD) is for children who do not attend Catholic schools. The kindergarten through eighth grade meet weekly following on Sunday mornings. Registration is required.
Preparation for first Reconciliation and Eucharist begins in the fall of second grade for students attending both Catholic and non-Catholic schools. Archdiocesan policy requires that one year prior of religious education or Catholic school is needed before preparation for the sacraments (beginning in first grade for Eucharist). To register, please use the CCD registration form above. Preparation dates are included on the CCD schedule.
For students in high school, Confirmation preparation is a two-year program for those who do not attend Catholic school beginning in ninth grade with Confirmation taking place in the junior year. Students in Catholic school join the program in their Junior year. Please see Confirmation.
